I watched 1974’s The Taking of Pelham 123 on Patton Oswalt’s reccomendation (in an AV Club interview he said, “… Walter Matthau is the John McClane character—I mean, that’s how great movies were in the ’70s: Walter Matthau was your badass action hero. Who’s gonna save the world? Oh, Matthau. The guy who’s hungover and kind of slouching in a really cheap suit and eating a hot dog.”).
The movie also stars a 30-years-younger-but-still-old Jerry Stiller and a whole menagerie of 1970’s New York stereotypes, but one of the more notable cast members is difficult to recognize. That’s him above. No, not Robert Shaw. To his left. Recognize him? It’s Earl Hindman, perhaps most well known as Wilson from Home Improvement!
