During Professional Bull Riding halftime, or intermission, or whatever they call it, they have seven-year-olds try to hold onto rampaging sheep. This is apparently called Mutton Busting or Mutton Bustin’. The bull riding is fun, but the mutton busting is incredible. One boy did particularly well, but when he got thrown off the sheep he stayed down for a second. It looked like he might be hurt. When the sheep mascot came over to make sure he was okay, the kid got up and started dancing. It was like the end of Jerry Maguire, but significantly more adorable and happening in real-life. I hope the bullriders and your bulls weren’t offended when a packed Madison Square Garden gave this kid got by far the loudest applause of the night.  Newsday got video of it that I can’t embed, but it’s well worth clicking through.
I would go to another bull riding event, but I’d pay twice as much if I knew it was just for mutton bustin’. I guess they could have adults ride bulls at halftime.
