Unable to discern any of the religious messages of Battlefield: Earth, Pat and I decided we should try Left Behind.
I found myself legitimately invested in some parts of the movie. The scene where 100 million people (including all children) suddenly disappear leaving behind their clothes was creepy, and reminded me of a cold opening from The X-Files or Fringe. Then I realized most people watching Left Behind aren’t comparing it to TV shows on Fox, they believe this stuff is really going to happen.
I would call Left Behind ‘watchable.’ Faint praise, but keep in mind I couldn’t endure more than 20 minutes of Battlefield: Earth and that had laser guns and capable actors. There’s some fun conspiracy stuff but it a little bit comes apart in the end when it turns out (spoiler alert!) God did everything and all the answers are in the Bible.
Final verdict: I’m probably going to watch Left Behind 2 - Tribulation Force.
