I look down on online petitions. They’re not even the least you could do - that implies you’re doing something. Most don’t even tell you who they’re going to send the petition to, likely because they haven’t thought that far ahead. On the off chance they have, anyone with any influence will immediately recognize how easy it is to fake 100,000 e-signatures. Signing an online petition is the pinnacle of performing a meaningless gesture just to feel good about yourself. At least complaining on Facebook raises awareness amongst the people you know.
That said, I just e-signed this petition to build a Lost themed attraction at DisneyWorld. This is a cause I strongly believe in, but typing my name is pretty much as much effort as I’m willing to put into it.
Though, thinking about it some more, I’m apparently willing to blog it too.
